PAWS has had the honor to work with wonderful vets and vet nurses over the years; vets and nurses that combine expertise, professional experience, skills and wonderful human qualities.
Vets Russell Lyon, Michael Hoolihan, Charmaine Cook are just a few and Katie Fuller, Mandy Cooper, Emma Crosby, Amy Leanne, Hayley Blackmore, Stephanie Saint are a few of the dedicated vet nurses we have worked with over the years on Paxos.
Animal welfare on the island would have never bee of this level without their contribution. We cannot help them enough.
Brexit restrictions are keeping them away from working on Paxos for the time being.
We are looking forward to a significant change that would allow them to return to Paxos and PAWS clinic.
A special mention to Corfu Vet, Stathis Konstantopoulos, who, in 2013 accepted Mayor Spyros Bogdanos’s proposal to become the first official Vet of the recently licensed Municipal Veterinary Clinic -PAWS.
He kept the position for almost two years to be succeeded by vet Nefeli Damigou.
Nefeli Damigou
Nefeli Damigou, graduated in 2010 from Thessaloniki School of Veterinary Medicine (AUTh) and after completing various internship courses between 2012 and 2015 (in the Diagnostic Laboratory, Thessaloniki, in the Internal Medicine Department of Thessaloniki Veterinary Medicine School, a neutering campaign on the island of Skiathos, an Erasmus program in Paphos, Cyprus at Paphiakos Animal Welfare for 6 months, 2 weeks training in Opthalmology and Critical Care department at the Koret Veterinary Teaching hospital in Jerusalem, -3 weeks volunteering in KohPhangan, Thailand for PhaNgan Animal Care and a year of training on Vet Acupuncture) she started working for Paxos Animal Welfare Society on the island of Paxos since 2015 and became Scientifically Responsible as the Vet of the Municipal Veterinary clinic on Paxos, Greece.
In 2018 she opened her own private clinic but still holds the title of Senior Municipal Vet for Paxos. In 2023 and 2024 she took a practical course on abdominal u/s in dogs and cats and another on veterinary dentistry in dogs and cats.
She is married and has recently become a mother of a beautiful baby boy.
