Since 2004 she has been involved in numerous cultural projects and has participated in many voluntary initiatives. She represents Paxos on the Task Force for the European Cultural Villages and published a book on one of their projects on the elderly people of the villages under the title: “Anchise – Paxiot Workshop in Action” (2006). Local producer of Paxos Festival since 2006 and founding member of the Non Profit Organization “Friends of Paxos”, she has been a director of various sports and cultural clubs on the island. She is proud “Mum” of rescue dog Delon and cares for a menagerie of about 10 rescue cats at her home in Magazia, Paxos.

Di Mitchell

Di and her husband Ian first came on holiday to Paxos in 2004 and like so many people fell in love with the beauty of the island. They returned every year for their holidays until 2015 when they decided to stay for the whole summer. During this summer, they found a very sick dog wandering the streets and after catching him and restoring him to good health found him a new home with Maureen & Jim Lemin. This was the start of their involvement with animal welfare on Paxos. When their daughter and her family decided to emigrate to new Zealand in 2017, Di & Ian decided to move to Paxos permanently and they finally settled on the island in 2019.

Di became a PAWS trustee in 2020 and a founding member of PAWS – Paxos since 2021.

Both Di and her husband Ian, have been a huge asset to the PAWS team and have fostered numerous cats and dogs as well as finding new homes in Greece and the UK for abandoned animals.
